Project SafeHarbor was a student wellness initiative designed for Sandy Hook Promise, a nonprofit founded by families affected by the Sandy Hook tragedy. The goal was to create a safer, more supportive environment where students could easily access mental health resources and anonymously report concerns before they become threats.
I designed Mind Check Station, an AI-powered mental health check-in kiosk that transforms wellness support into an everyday experience — as simple and accessible as checking your phone or grabbing lunch. The station allows students to complete quick emotional assessments, privately journal their thoughts, receive personalized coping resources, and request counselor support when needed.
Project SafeHarbor blends modern technology with a warm, welcoming environment — inspired by the simplicity of Apple and the comfort of a cozy community space. Using natural wood accents, soft-touch surfaces, and calming visuals, the design creates a safe, approachable experience that feels supportive rather than clinical. With Gen Z in mind, the space combines innovation, comfort, and trust through modern forms, soothing colors, and a friendly aesthetic that encourages mental health check-ins as part of everyday life.
